The FAQ’s

1. How long does it take?

Please allow 2-3 hours for newborn sessions, up to 1 hour for studio pregnancy/children/portrait sessions and 1-1.5hrs for outdoor sessions.  I don’t look at my watch when I’m shooting, I work until I feel I have captured enough or to when I feel like the kids have had enough!

2. How old should my baby be?

It is very important that you contact me in the first 2 days of having your baby so we can secure the best day for your newborn session.  Ideally, between 7-14 days old, the sweet spot is 10 days old.  After two weeks of age, a baby’s startle reflexes start to develop more and often around the 3-week mark baby’s will have a growth spurt and be extra hungry.  If you really love those sleepy poses, then under 2 weeks of age is perfect, however up to 4 weeks old is still ok.

3. What do I wear for our newborn photos?

If possible, dress your baby in a zip or button up onsie with no singlet. This is just for ease to undress baby without too much disruption.  I encourage parents to have a photograph with their new baby. Even if you are not feeling fabulous it only has to be 1 photograph! In which case, keep it simple, plain white/black/grey/navy clothing, less is more when it comes to prints and patterns on shirts.

4. Can my older kids come to the newborn session?

Yes! Most definitely, having older sibling photographs with your baby is wonderful!  Older children will be photographed with your newborn first, then whole family shots and the remainder of the session is just of your newborn.

5. Can you come to my house for the photoshoot?

Unfortunately, I am unable to do home shoots? To create the quality of photography the studio is where it all happens!

6. What if I just want the digital files and print them myself?

Unfortunately, the cheap printing services available to the public are of substandard quality.  Printing calibration can either make or break your photographs.  I have found in my experience that many of the convenient printing services like Kmart, Ted’s Camera, Big W etc leave you with skin tones of green and backgrounds that look grey.  Also, life is busy and often the USB stays in the desk drawer and we just don’t get around to printing them, finding a frame and then finally getting it on the wall. All printed products offered with The Eternal Second Photography are created through a proLab only available to professional photographers.  Quality is premium and guaranteed to last many, many years.  All packages are designed so you can go home with a professionally printed product and your digital files.

7. When do I pay for my photos?

Firstly, the session fee is due before your session.  Then at the ordering appointment is when payment is taken and your order is confirmed.  Payment can be made in full by credit/debit card, EFT direct bank transfer, or a lay-by system (*terms and conditions apply).

All people in the decision-making process must be present at the ordering appointment. Orders can not be changed once placed with the proLab.

8. When will my photos be ready?

Immediately after your photoshoot I will download your photographs onto my computer and we will go through each image and you choose your favourites.  After the final choices have been made and a plan for your photographs has been made e.g. album or print enlargements, then I will take 1-2 weeks to process and fully edit your images and organise your printed products.  Printed albums and mounted prints take approximately 3-6 weeks to be ready from the Lab.  Unfortunately, this part of the process is out of my control however, it will only be a matter of weeks to wait for your beautiful artwork to come home!

9. Can I get my prints framed?

Yes! I have a beautiful range of framing options if you would prefer wall art.  Again, these frames are not “off the shelf” variety, these frames are custom made and only available to professional photographers.

10. What happens if I cancel my session?

If you happen to be sick the day of your session then we will do our best to reschedule your booking.  If you have changed your mind within 48 hours of the session your booking fee will be refunded at 50%, as I will not be able to fill my booking within 48 hours.  My time is valuable like yours, so please make sure the confirmed booking time is suitable.
